Things You Can Do With Your Document Camera

  1. Science teachers can perform dissections.

Operations

Turning On

To turn on, press the power button located on the base for approximately 2 seconds or use the power button on the remote control.  The document camera is on when the power button is blue.

 

Turning Off

Always turn off the document camera when not in use.  To turn off, press the power button on the base of the player for approximately 2 seconds or use the power button on the remote control.  When the document camera is off, the poer putton will be red.

Auto Focus

Press the button on the end of the camera head to automatically focus in on what you are viewing.  There is also an auto focus button on the remote control that you can use.  If the auto focus does not produce the results you want/need, you can use manual focus; for more information on using this function, refer to page 51 in the Instruction Manual.

Zoom

To zoom in and out, rotate the zoom dial or press the zoom buttons on the remote control.

Light

Use the light as needed to enhance what you are viewing.

Cautions:

  1. Avoid looking into the light.  When using the document camera to focus on people, turn off the light.
  2. After entended use of the light, the area around the light may become hot.

Camera Head

The camera head can be rotated to shoot walls, distance views (i.e. into the classroom).  Gently rotate the camera head to shoot the area you want.

Caution:  Never carry the document camera by the camera head; instead, move the document camera by picking it up at the base.

Brightness

Brightness can be adjusted by using the controls on the base of the document camera or by using the buttons on the remote.

 

Controls On Base

Use the controls on the base to switch from computer to document camera to SD card.

View the controls (operating panel).

Remote

View the remote control tools.

 

Highlight function

 If you want to draw attention to a particular section of your image, use the highlight function.  To turn off the highlight function, press the button again.

Mask function

  Use the mask function to cover your document and reveal portions as you want.  To turn off the mask function, press the button again.

Scroll Function

  The scroll function will zoom in on your document.  You can then use the arrow buttons to scroll to different sections of your document.  To turn off the scroll function, press the button again.

Picture in Picture function

  The picture-in-picture function displays a quarter-size still image of the document you are currently viewing.  You can now remove that document and place another document on the stage.  Both the previous and current images are now displayed.  To turn off the picture-in-picture function press the button again.

 

When Not In Use

  • Turn off the light.
  • Turn off the power (the button should be red).
  • Turn the camera head downward (vertical).
  • You can rotate the camera column 180 degrees to the left (do not rotate the other direction) so the camera head and column are directly above the base to give you more room on your desk/table.  Be sure to hold the column and base when turning it; never hold the camera head. 
  • Cover the document camera.

     

 

Presenting / Viewing

Presenting With paper (Using The Stage)

Turn the wall control on and select Doc Cam input.

Turn the document camera on.

Turn the light on if desired.

Place your document on the stage under the document camera head.

You can use the magnetic strip to secure the document to the stage area.

You can use the anti glare sheet over your document to reduce glare (place dull side up).

 

Viewing A 3-D Image

Adjust the column and camera head to display your 3-D image.

 

Shooting a wall surface or distant view - i.e. a group of students working (page 48)

 

Presentation using images stored on an SD memory card (pages 36-39)

 

Connecting Mp3 Device To Play Music

The VGA cable attached to the back of the document camera has an audio cable.

Plug the audio cable into your Mp3 device (iPhone, iPod, etc.).

Do NOT turn the document camera on.  Leave it off.

Do NOT to turn the wall plate on.  Leave it off.

Select Doc Cam on the wall plate.

You should now be able to play music stored on your device.

You can control the volume both on your device and at the wall plate.

ImageMate Software

Launching The Program

The document camera should be connected to your computer with a gray cord.

Turn the document camera on.

Double-click on the ImageMate icon on your desktop. 

If this is the first time you are using the ImageMate software, you may need to complete a wizard.  Simply click Next, Next, and Finish.

You are now ready to use your ImageMate software.
