Microsoft Office and GroupWise Help

Using Search For or Table of Contents in Word and Excel

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select Microsoft Office Word Help / Microsoft Excel Help (or hit your F1 key) to open the help task pane.
  3. You can either type what you need help on in the Search For: field and click on the green arrow or select Table of Contents to see a list of all help items.
  4. If you do a Search For:, you will be presented with a list of help topics that match your search criteria.
  5. To read more, click on the topic.
  6. If you opened the Table of Contents, you will see help topics broken down by chapters. Click on a chapter to see the list of topics included. Click on a topic to read more.

 

Tips:

Use the small green forward and reverse arrows at the top of the Help task pane to navigate back and forth.

Clicking on the House icon takes you back to the main Help scree.

Close the task pane by clicking on the X in the upper right corner.

 

Using the Office Assistant in Word and Excel

  1. If you do not see the Office Assistant (the pesky little paper clip guy), go to the Help menu and select Show the Office Assistant.
  2. You can now click on the Office Assistant, type in your question or phrase, and hit Search.

 

Tips:

To move the Office Assistant, click, hold, and drag the icon where you want it to be.

To close the Office Assistant, go to the Help menu and select Hide the Office Assistant.

 

Using the Microsoft Online Help in Word and Excel

  1. If you do not find what you are looking for by using the mentods described above, you can go to Microsoft's online help. Go to the Help menu and select Microsoft Office Online.
  2. Use the Search box to enter what you are looking for, then click the magnifying glass.

 

Using Help in GroupWise

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Help Topics (or hit your F1 key) to open the help window.
  2. There are 3 options: Contents, Index, and Search. Select the option you want. 

 

To see what's new in GroupWise, select What's New from the Help menu.

To use the online user's guide, select User's Guide from the Help menu.
