Tips, Tricks, and Hidden Features Session Description

  • Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.
  • GroupWise

 

If you use Word, Excel, Publisher, and/or GroupWise but have often thought… “I wonder if there is an easier way to…” or “I wish I knew how to…” then this is the perfect session for you. You will learn some useful tips and have the opportunity to spend time researching specific advanced features that you have always wanted to delve into, but never found the time.

 

This session will have some instructor-led time with the majority of time being used for self-paced research, learning, and project creation. Please come to your session with a project in mind. Have some ideas of what you want your end product to look like, what content you want, etc.

 

What to bring

  • Paper and pen/pencil.
  • Questions you might have on how to perform a specific task (i.e. how to attach a document to an email, how to save a copy of an existing file, etc.).
  • A willingness to learn and share.

 

During the Training

  • Make sure you log in as yourself on the lab computer. Do not stay logged in as a student. Logging in as yourself will ensure that you have access to all the files in your G:\ drive.
  • If you don't see a program icon on the Desktop, you may find the program you are looking for by going to the Start menu > All Programs and looking for it there.

Download a zip file that contains all of the files listed above.  Once downloaded, right-click on the zip  file, select WinZip or 7-Zip > Extract to here from the list.  You will now see a folder called TipsAndTricksFiles.  All templates and instructions will be inside.
