Media Mania Session Description
In this session you will have the opportunity to explore a variety of media available for your use.
- Picasa - software that allows you to organize your photos and videos.
- Photo Story and Movie Maker - software used to create movies and digital storybooks.
- School Tube and Teacher Tube - take a look at educational videos available on the web that can be used in your classroom.
- Discovery Education Streaming (previously United Streaming) - research a wealth of videos and online teaching resources.
- PowerPoint - inserting multiple pictures into a presentation.
- Document Cameras, Digital Cameras, and Projectors - explore the devices available for use in your building.
This session will have some instructor-led time with the majority of time being used for self-paced research, learning, and project creation. Please come to your session with a project in mind. Have some ideas of what you want your end product to look like, what content you want, etc.
What to bring
- Paper and pen/pencil.
- Ideas of a project you might like to create using some of the tools discussed in this session.
- Digital photos for your project.
- Ideas of videos you want to use in your classroom.
- A willingness to learn and share.
During the Training
- Make sure you log in as yourself on the lab computer. Do not stay logged in as a student. Logging in as yourself will ensure that you have access to all the files in your G:\ drive.
- If you don't see a program icon on the Desktop, you may find the program you are looking for by going to the Start menu > All Programs and looking for it there.
